New Look For The Blog

Sorry for the distinct lack of blog posts over the last few weeks.
As you can see I've been working on changing the look of the blog. There's more to do and it will change again shortly with images from photo shoots and pictures of the shop. It's always great to have a change and freshen up your presence I think.

Weddings are now part of our main bulk of work with brides and mother of the brides / grooms popping in with glorious outfits ready to have a bespoke hat made to finish their look.

We've been blocking like mad to make all sorts of shapes and styles all of which will appear on the blog very soon.

So if you are off to a wedding and need advice of where to start looking / planning or shopping for your outfit drop into the shop or give us a call and we'll gladly help.

I will have been re opened a year since the shop was flooded shortly, can't believe it's gone so fast !
So if you've not had chance to visit you'll be quite surprised when to get here.

Summer Weddings (in the rain)

It just keeps raining at the moment.
Last weekend I was close to Lake Windermere cooking at cubs camp and it absolutely tipped it down right until we left when the sun came out !
I always feel sorry for people when they have gone to so much trouble with their wedding outfits then on the big day it pours with rain.
However there's nothing you can do about it so it's up with the  umbrella and best foot forward.
A selection of hats of the week this week includes a open weave straw which is tricky to sew when there's more holes than material!

I Am Ready To Re Open

Sorry for the lack of blog posts in the last few weeks, it's not like me not to post a little news but things have been fraught, with building works, sourcing items for the shop, whilst trying to work from the kitchen table. Also family life has been confined to the kitchen only, it will be great to regain some space and have a beautiful new shop and workroom to operate from. I really can not wait and just in time for all the summer weddings.

So I now need friendly faces to visit on Sat 14th May, anytime between 10am and 5pm when I shall be serving pimms and fresh pink lemonade to get you in the celebratory mood and you will be able to have a good look around the new look shop and workroom. You're in for a surprise ! There's a little teasing picture to give you a little taster of the new interior.

It's very exciting now it's almost ready but the journey to get here has been nothing short of mammoth.

Another Year

Another year has flown by.They say time flys when you're busy and it's been a very busy 12 months.
I've made many lovely hats and accessories for so many unusual events, for brides and wedding guests, for other national and international social gatherings and for individuals who lead very interesting lives.!
I was also asked to make a rather large amount of berets for the winter Olympics, but sadly that request never came to be but it was very nice to be asked.
So it's time to renew my batteries over Christmas and the New Year when I shall be ready to do it all again. Merry Christmas. X

Hat Therapy loves Instagram

In the last couple of weeks I have started using instagram and find that even I can make photograph's look half decent. Here is a little selection that I have taken around the shop. I really like it's ease of use it it's another way to link up with people. On the hat front there has been some furious making going on so I will be taking some pictures of the latest pieces just off their blocks. It's that time of year when I just can't make them quick enough.!

A look around the Hat Shop

This morning while the sun was out I took a few photo's of the shop as I don't have a 'virtual tour' version at the moment.
On Dec 1st I will have been open for 7 years so will be hosting a celebration and Christmas Fair with lots of textile gift ideas to choose from so if you are local do pop in for drinks and nibbles. I will also be giving at luncheon talk in Leeds for a group of ladies who work in the city. We are all meeting at a restaurant called Create, I thought that was very apt.!.I will be taking along millinery materials, and a selection of finished headwear for them to try on etc.
Finally some of my work will be featured in a Finnish wedding magazine. I think that's quite enough for one week. The following week is just as busy so I better get back to some sewing.
