Peach And Lace For A Romantic Wedding

Last week I made a lovely lace and natural braid bridal headband for a friend who was getting married.
I stiffened and wired the lace to create leaf or petal shapes then made loops of braid in two tones.
It worked really well with her lace but simple dress and was the perfect gift for me to give.
This week I finished a very unusual coloured crin headdress in a light tan with pinky cream silk flowers and a sharp citrus yellow beaded centres.
The dress it matched was a 1920's pale peach silk sheath with yellow citrus tassel's at the base and soft tan embroidered flowers around the hem.
It was a tricky piece to get the tones just right but it was fantastic together and looked so unusual.
Hebden bridge is now in full bloom with all the trees looking magnificent and an early walk along the canal the other evening was just a delight.
I have now finished the main changes to the blog layout with social sharing ability at the end of each post and all my social networking buttons such as Pinterest etc easily accessible at the top right of the page.
Hope you like the new look Chrissie. x

Graduate Show At Huddersfield Uni

Last Friday was the private view of the Graduate show at Huddersfield Uni where I have interns come and work with me though out the year.
Lots of innovative work on show but sadly the fire alarm went off and we all had to leave the building early.
I did take a few images on my phone so at least there's a small selection to post.
Work continues in the shop as usual with more weddings to make items for.
Unfortunately it's unseasonably cold.!
I have just installed a new template for the blog and will be changing the layout so please bear with me if it looks a little 'broken' in the next few days.
There are now easy to use links that take you to my other social network areas such as Pinterest etc have a look at the end of the post.

Cotton Hats And Oil Cloth Bags For Summer

I've been busy re painting my kitchen in between making hats and bags.! It's not finished yet as hats and other sewing take priority, two walls are white and two walls are F&B 'Pigeon' which is a great colour.
We have been busy re filling the shop with casual cotton holiday hats and bags including cross body oil cloth bags which I love as they are so easy to wear and you can fill them with the kitchen sink.!
I have bought another lovely piece of oilcloth today which I want to make myself a bag from as I always seem to low on the list when it comes to making.I am going to use it with a piece of leather so will take pictures and show how it worked out in the next post.
Flowers are opening up in the garden and borders around town and continue to make my day however it's not that warm at the moment.
This coming week I am expecting the last minute Ascot ladies, but I am ready with lots of options in the shop and of course we can always add touches of colour to match outfits.

Hello June Ascot Month

So here we are it's June and the month of Ascot where both ladies and gentlemen dress up in their finest clothes and don their latest hats. I personally love the top hats as well as all the magnificent ladies creations.

There are a few do's and dont's that you must adhere to, so if you want to check out this years list go to the link and read all the details.
However it is a spectacular event with it's royal connections and definitely a day to remember if you are Lucky enough to go.
Here are two hats that are in the shop now ready for those last minute purchases for Ascot, and there are often quite a few ladies who have been looking for a hat for a while but just not found what they want.
Now if only the British weather will warm up and behave its self it should be the best people watching money can't buy.!
I shall definitely be catching all the action on the t.v. while I'm working.
