Happy Birthday Little Blog

It's five years ago since I started The Little Hat Shop Blog, I don't have a massive following but I do know that people look and read it as they will tell me when they pop in the shop to try something on they've spotted, and overseas readers will e mail me about styles they would like in a different colour. So I have been saving a very special photo shoot that took place earlier this year as an anniversary special.

I asked a few friends if they would like to contribute thier talents, bridal gownsbridal flowers, bridal jewellery, photo shoot hair and make up as well as Chloe and Grace who modelled, plus good friends who just helped and of course my pal Shelly for all that is possible in photography magic.
It seemed like a good omen when after a shout out on twitter that I was looking for an unusual bridal gown with simple lines and no fuss that the very talented Jessica Charleston from Bath said 'would this be any good'

A latex wedding gown that looked like liquid silk........ Yes that would do fine.!! Jessica also lent me the beautifully simple ivory gown as well.
Shelly from Toast photography actually thought I was joking when I told her I've got a latex wedding gown and a slightly crumbling chapel to shoot it from.
So after a little orchestration this was the result.

So far the pictures haven't been featured on any blogs so if you know of a little place it might just work well then get in touch. It's definitely a touch of Kate Bush brushed with a good dash of Withering Heights.
Thanks for supporting the blog so far.

Photo Shoot Day

This Monday the sun was out and I was very relieved as I had a photo shoot. Umbrellas not required.!

There will be  lots of terrific pictures of the shoot in a few days time which will show off the delights of Hebden Bridge.
I was joined by Debbie owner of  Zeitgeist a FABULOUS cutting emporium where every cut is perfection.
Together we put together a shoot based around the film  'A boy a girl and a bike' filmed locally in1949 and tells the story of working mill girls who belong to a cycling club.
Our clothing was supplied by a local boutique Amelia and a lovely make up artist Aimee came to dust cheeks, apply lashes and all other kinds of make up magic.
Spring seems to be here and the valley where I live has been beautiful esp the canal.
When the photographs are ready to post I will be back with another instalment of 'A boy a girl and a bike'
As Shelly from  Toast say's 'don't rush my genius'.  However she is a genius in general especially with a camera.! She also has the most incredible new web site.

A busy week

It's been a very busy week. On Monday I was at a photo shoot in Leeds where the wonderful large LOVE lights were used to their best advantage, there was a trip to the local bakery for sustenance and lots of new winter items being made.
The wool cloche is the warmer version of the cotton one which was so popular in the summer.
Friday I shall be hosting my Macmillan coffee morning from 10am till 2pm so pop into the shop if you are close enough. We shall have coffee, tea and cakes in the workroom. A nice setting for a coffee and no sewing required.!

A Town Hall Affair

Whilst having my hair cut a few weeks ago I asked Debbi owner of Zeitgeist if she would be interested in a photo shoot I was thinking of putting together. So we sorted out a few details, which day, times, models etc. I then asked Shelly from Toast Photography if she was free to come over to Hebden Bridge to shoot it for me, and she was.!
The tweed suit and jacket were kindly loaned by Libertyfreedom  urban tweed is one way of describing their fab gear. Debbi cut Kim's hair, with incredible precision and Danielle had her red hair pinned up into a great shape. All the jewellery was hand made by my pal local jewellery designer Rachel Lucie and the models had their make up expertly applied by Alison Clegg who came over from York for the morning.
I should add that I made the head wear.!
Holly my right hand girl helped me with just about everything including getting everyones lunch. She also made the heart quill you see in the picture taken by the tiled wall in the town hall stairwell.
The Town Hall is a wonderful spot for any shoot, lots of dark wood and huge windows, ours took on a real Mad Men look don't you think.?
I could wax lyrical about the shoot but I think it's better to let the pictures speak for themselves.
Cheers Shelly not sure if Patch the dog [on loan] stole the show.!
