Coffee and cakes

Last week I hosted a Macmillan coffee morning at the shop and raised just over £50 so thank you to all that came and had coffee and cake and donated.
Spotted a lovely window whilst I was out and about, I always find architecture very inspiring and this window was just beautiful. So although a random picture I just wanted to add it to this post.
We have been busy stocking our home wears selection with a new fabric designs in neutrals making them great as house warming presents as they fit with most colour schemes.
This year I have added a hand knitted merino wool poncho to the accessories range, perfect for Autumn / Winter  easy to pull on and go and also great to drive in.
Can't quite believe it's October tomorrow but it is. I will be showing a new range of wedding designs at East Riddlesden Hall on November 9th and a fashion show in Halifax in October so there's plenty to be getting on with.

A busy week

It's been a very busy week. On Monday I was at a photo shoot in Leeds where the wonderful large LOVE lights were used to their best advantage, there was a trip to the local bakery for sustenance and lots of new winter items being made.
The wool cloche is the warmer version of the cotton one which was so popular in the summer.
Friday I shall be hosting my Macmillan coffee morning from 10am till 2pm so pop into the shop if you are close enough. We shall have coffee, tea and cakes in the workroom. A nice setting for a coffee and no sewing required.!

The Macmillan Coffee Mug Hat

After holding a Macmillan Coffee morning last year I really wanted to try and help much more this time as a very close friend had lost her husband to Prostate cancer in January leaving two wonderful little boys. So I asked the Macmillan team if they thought a hat might cause a few raised eyebrows and hopefully a few extra raised coffee mugs.
Viki who works as a fund raising manager in Calderdale for Macmillan came to visit me at the shop and together we hatched a plan. Last Saturday I went along to a Macmillan event where actress Lucy Jo Hudson kindly modelled the hat for us.Hopefully you will see Lucy and the coffee mug hat in quite a few newspapers leading up to the September events. Below you will see the making of the coffee mug hat with it's fresh coffee bean trim.I will be hosting another coffee morning on Friday the 28th Sept here in the workroom at the hat shop, so pop in for coffee if you live close enough, but you can really help by just popping on your kettle and inviting a few friends for coffee. Contact Macmillan and ask them how.
