Straw and Sinamay Beret

Just a quick post to show off this lovely hand blocked beret made by Fran who has been on placement with me since October. The beret has been blocked in two stages. First the electric blue sinamay and then the patterned natural straw. Sandwiched together the blue peeps out from between the straw's gaps.
There's a straw ribbon  anchored with a turquoise shell long bead. Fran is very pleased with her hat and so she should be.

Lace Buttons and wool

I made a quick trip to buy a few pieces of fabric that I needed this week and of course left with more than was on my list. The braids are very fine and lovely quality, I intend to use them on a few bridal head pieces.
The grey wool cloth is for a mans cap and I am hoping that there will be enough of the checked fabric left as I would love a shoulder bag for myself....famous last words.!
Lastly the pink buttons are Italian and so pretty with a lovely sheen to them. I am going to wire them into twists and use as a trim..picture at some point will make more sense.

March Wedding Extravaganza

I am really excited to be invited to EWE in Birmingham in March and by all accounts from their first event in November last year I am in for a visual treat. It's not your average shindig and my space in which I will create a display in which to display my goodies is also right up my street. I love to dress a space and am full of ideas at the moment, there is also some searching for several pieces of furniture and I will definitely need a van.
So time is of the essence, with all the making and general hat shop malarkey I will be a busy girl.
The materials on my list for use so far are perspex, wool yarn, silk, plastic, wire and other lesser used materials.
Here's a couple of flowers that have been made for some simple birdcage coloured veils and I hope to take a few pictures of projects in the making as they happen.
So my advice to anyone getting married soon is get yourself to EWE.
Have a peep what Shelly my Toast of Leeds mate snapped last November.

New Year New Designs

Happy New Year hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. I had a little time off to recharge my batteries and now am back in full swing in the shop, with lots to make and organise.
January in the U.K. is normally a very cold month so I need plenty of warm cosy hats and accessories ready to go. Here's a small selection of neck wraps, ear warmers and accessories that are perfect for a cold day.
Next week I am taking part in The Designer Pop up Event in The Hospital Club In Covent Garden, London.
A selection of designers will be selling next Wednesday evening from 6pm to 9pm if you live in London and would like to go get in touch and I will pop you on the guest list.
