Mirror Mirror on the wall

As the date for EWE wedding extravaganza draws closer I am preparing all my props and furniture that I will need to set my scene and display my wares.
This beautiful Victorian mahogany vanity mirror has been given to me [as a swap for hats] by a friend who owns Zeitgiest salon here in Hebden Bridge. How lucky am I.!
I have also bought an old dressing table with a knee hole so that ladies will be able to sit and look in the mirror while trying on hats etc. The dressing table is very simple so it's being painted a great shade of dark red at the moment. I am looking forward to seeing the two pieces together soon. Now I have to keep making.

March Wedding Extravaganza

I am really excited to be invited to EWE in Birmingham in March and by all accounts from their first event in November last year I am in for a visual treat. It's not your average shindig and my space in which I will create a display in which to display my goodies is also right up my street. I love to dress a space and am full of ideas at the moment, there is also some searching for several pieces of furniture and I will definitely need a van.
So time is of the essence, with all the making and general hat shop malarkey I will be a busy girl.
The materials on my list for use so far are perspex, wool yarn, silk, plastic, wire and other lesser used materials.
Here's a couple of flowers that have been made for some simple birdcage coloured veils and I hope to take a few pictures of projects in the making as they happen.
So my advice to anyone getting married soon is get yourself to EWE.
Have a peep what Shelly my Toast of Leeds mate snapped last November.

Merry Christmas from the Hat Shop

All my Christmas orders are just about done and I have a bowler hat order to finish for the weekend. There has been lots of accessories made and bought as well as hats in just about every colour you can think of.
This weekend will be busy but I have still time to make a few more lovely things for the shop.
This year the decorations are all made from hand cut pieces of felt with a bird, berry and leaf theme in rich warm colours.
You can see from this post that the shop has had a re paint in very different shades from my black and red that I've had for 7 years, but I really love it and it keeps much cleaner.!

In January I shall begin making hats for spring events and weddings and will be very busy creating a special range of wedding designs for the Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza in March. I hope to take lots of pictures as they are created, everything will be made from unusual materials so don't forget to pop back in January to see what I'm up to.
That just leaves me to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and happy new year and a big thank you for reading my little blog.
