Boiled wool And Taffeta

A carpet of leaves have started to fall everywhere.I love the colours, shapes and patterns that they make.
This week I went to my local library and spotted sitting on the shelf the new Vivienne Westwood auto biography, It was the first time it had been displayed for loaning and I was the first person to take it out. It felt very special with only the one return date stamped on the front sleeve.
Ive only read a little so far but it's good and very detailed were the story begins in Paris fashion week.
I then went fabric shopping which is never a chore and found some grey boiled wool, damson taffeta, and a few other nice pieces of winter fabrics.
So I got busy with Evangeline and together we made a few hats and neck wraps.
A few have sold straight away, I think fabric speaks to you as you spot it and it's what constantly draws people into the shop, fabric, shape, and tone.
I'm looking forward to using more this week and seeing which shapes we will create.
Also need to create a Halloween window or my daughter will not be too pleased.

Autumn arrives

Autumn has arrived and there is definitely a chill in the air, and that means one thing, we will all be wrapping up.
I am filing the shop with warm accessories, neck wraps, scarves, wool cloches, and even hand knitted slipper socks.
There is also still a few weddings happening too. The bottom picture is a small top hat that I blocked last week and I am now working on sewing the hat together.
Red is in this winter as well as plums and green, so there's a great pallet of tones to choose from.
I have also been using some soft leathers and suede for little bags and peaks on hats.
I am also making a selection of 80's inspired 'Studio54' New York head wear for a photo shoot later this month. There's never a dull moment if you sew for a living.!

New Year New Designs

Happy New Year hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. I had a little time off to recharge my batteries and now am back in full swing in the shop, with lots to make and organise.
January in the U.K. is normally a very cold month so I need plenty of warm cosy hats and accessories ready to go. Here's a small selection of neck wraps, ear warmers and accessories that are perfect for a cold day.
Next week I am taking part in The Designer Pop up Event in The Hospital Club In Covent Garden, London.
A selection of designers will be selling next Wednesday evening from 6pm to 9pm if you live in London and would like to go get in touch and I will pop you on the guest list.
