A Felt Beret For A Wedding

This is one of my favourite block shapes which I use to make my more formal berets.
A soft mushroom felt has been simply trimmed with a textured fabric which has a thread of colour running through it.
After blocking the beret two slits were made fairly close together and then I threaded the sewn fabric pieces through the main body of the hat.
Always a little nerve wracking when you cut into something that's already complete!
However well worth it to create this simple elegant look.
It has now been purchased and will be off to a wedding this weekend and then to Ireland later in the month.

Back To Work

Back to work after a lovely break with lots to make and do.
As you know I do love the autumn and winter fabrics and tweed is IN again this year so that has made me very happy.
The front of the shop has been painted and is looking lovely in the September sunshine today, this time it's a complete change with a paler colour pallet of pale grey and blue grey door.
Just before I went away I had a client that required a wedding headpiece rather quickly,so she arrived at 10am and left at 6pm with her hat box ! It's the whipped ivory piece in the photos and I am looking forward to the photographs as I never actually got to see her dress as it wasn't ready at the time.
Most years I have a hat sale in September and this year I have nine hats in the sale. There are various styles and colours including black, ivory, pink and grey.
Priced at £60 they won't last very long so get in touch if you are interested.
Must dash .. back on the school run!

Weddings Galore

It's the time of year where all the Easter weddings are getting ever closer, people are making last minute arrangements, checking all their lists TWICE, and picking up their bespoke head wear.
Today was no exception at the shop, with a felt pill box hat and contrasting silk clutch and a taffeta headdress both now nestled in their boxes waiting for that special day.
I've had an incredibly busy week with a photo shoot at our beautiful town hall on Thurs, lots of bridal pieces to make including one ordered on Monday, picked up on Thurs at 6pm..! It's now only one week till I go to Ewe wedding fair so I too am checking my lists.
