The Story of the Parrot

Several weeks ago, a lovely lady came in to discuss what she might wear on her head for her wedding. She had very interesting plans for colouring her hair, and with a sharp elfin haircut she was able to carry off many styles. After careful consideration she decided that she liked the medium sized tilted topper the most. So the next issue once the shape was decided, we then turned our attention to the colours.
The shoes that had been chosen to wear with the wedding dress had subdued rose pinks, soft limes and soft neutrals.
I had the exact pink in Sinamay which I blocked the main body of the hat from. I then trimmed it in a pink silk and the parrot was hand made from soft faux suede.
The theme of the wedding most definitely centered around the parrot including the wedding stationery which was hand drawn and printed by local artist Julia Ogden
Her bridesmaid wore the little parrot headband covered in the same pink silk.
I'm looking forward to Mrs Parrot coming back to show me her photographs.

Birdcage Alley

You might already know that I have a shop over on the very lovely whatialwayswanted with a new selection of wedding inspired pieces for summer weddings.
I have used printed silks and hand printed some raw silk myself for trimming.
The birdcage veil is so popular with brides and guests that the name Birdcage Alley came to mind when I was thinking of an apt name for my products.
It has an old fashioned feel to the overall collection, with vintage beads, buttons, pearls and other pretty things used to create an individual look.
Pop over and have a look at the rest of my pieces and all the other gorgeous things by many talented makers.
