Open Studios

Today has seen the start of  the open studios in Hebden Bridge when artists open their work space to show the public a wide assortment of art.
My friend Julia Ogden is sharing my workroom for the open studios paintings, screen prints and ink drawings as well as hand drawn pieces of wild life, and the local environment.
I have been busy with orders and replenishing hats and accessories, as well as buying fabric.
I came across the striking stripy fabric which has been whipped up into cushions,a zip up bag and even a shoulder bag.I absolutely love it looks so clean and summery, which is more that can be said for our weather.
Today was pretty chilly for June but the foxglove is in bloom, the roses are out and my English lavender smells amazing so all is well.!
Pop in to the shop over the weekend or friday to Sunday next weekend to see Julia her work is a joy.

Grad Show

Last night I went to the Huddersfield Uni Textiles Grad Show where 3 of my interns from last year had their work on view.
There was a huge range of work, not only in style but in construction too.
I was only able to take a few photo's on my phone as it was very very busy and it was tricky getting a clear shot with so many people around. However I'm sure you can see the diversity and quality of the work was amazing.
I went to see Emily, Holly, Fran and Josie who produced fantastic work, well done ladies it was very inspiring.

Ascot Hats Crystals And Leaves

This week there are a few last minute hats for Ascot where everyone wants to look fabulous.
I have a selection of hats ready to go and there is still just enough time to have a hat made to order.
The lovely little Bell Hop hat with antique veil and tumbling smoky crystals is great to wear all day put really cuts a dash in the style stakes.
As you may know I love flowers and at the moment my little pots are all flowering beautifully.
Toady I am going to make a hat for my display during the Tour De France it will be very round.!

Soft Golds And Mad Hatters Tea

I'm a little behind with my blog posts at the moment so here's a selection of whats been happening in the workroom lately.
Soft Gold tones look great with cream bridal gowns so this week there has been a selection of head wear with that in mind.
A bell hop hat with an antique gold veil secured with smoky gold swarovski crystals that tumble across the side of the left eye and a couple of smaller cocktail hats, plus the cloche hat with the ripple brim is now finished and on show in the shop.
Also this week one of my lovely interns left and gave me the most thoughtful gifts including the Mad Hatters Tea.! Melissa has been working with me for 11 months so I will miss her but she returns to uni in Sept to finish her degree and she'll have a few new tricks up her sleeve when she starts making her costumes again.
Today is the Hebden Bridge Hand Made Parade which is a little like the Rio Carnival but in Yorkshire and I can't wait to see the amazing parade and hear the Samba band.
