Snowy Days & And A New Machine

Last Wednesday is snowed and snowed and snowed. My little girl goes to a school which is situated on the hills above Hebden Bridge so when the call came from school that they would have to close the only way back was on foot.
It was a beautiful sight of white bright scenery, falling snow and laden trees and shrubbery. Sledging was great fun and everywhere had an alpine feel.
However last night it rained all night so most of the snow is now gone.
I bought an older sewing machine on Wednesday which I am delighted with. It's a very heavy metal body, quick and very precise. We are all just sightly in love with it in the workroom.!
Looking forward to putting it to good use this coming week as we plough through a huge list of
 'to do's '
I am about to make three lists for the wall for everyone to follow next week which include hand printing linen fabrics, bag making and blocking more formal hats for weddings and events for the coming spring and summer. Should keep us all out of trouble.! Chrissie.

Planning a wedding Photo Shoot

So the new year is up and running and so must we. There are many new hats and accessories being made at the moment, sketches everywhere and ideas scribbled down so that they don't disappear from my head space.
I'm also planning a little wedding photo shoot hopefully with a local dress designer.
I'm going to keep it nice and simple pared back with a simple backdrop and more emphasis on the head wear this time.
I will be buying spring fabrics next week although it is currently snowing here,! printing my own designs on cottons and linens which we will then make into bags etc.
So there's plenty to think about and it doesn't really matter what the weather is up to. Although it's not particularly pleasant for shoppers.
This morning a lady braved the cold as she has a wedding in February, as they say the show must go on.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year Everyone!

What exciting plans we have to look forward to. As spring is approaching we are getting ready to start our spring collection including hats, bags and other lovely accessories, but before we can begin our creative genius, we will need a trip to shop for fabric where we will be looking for linen, cotton and light weight fabric that is fresh, bright and will be perfect for when the sun comes out. We have also started ordering our straw cones to block, to make some really fab hats.

As well as that to welcome the spring in we are working on a new selection of home wear items such as table cloths, place mats and cushions, excellent for brightening up your home and making a change for the new year.
If you fancy a new years bargain come along to the shop and take a look at our sale section and see if there is something you can't resist.

Along with that we have plans to revamping and painting the shop....... it's a bit like the forth bridge.!

Also as it is spring soon we are turning our attention to wedding wears, We already have a unique selection in the shop but will be making more as the months go by.
April 12th we are going to East Riddlesden Hall for the day (12 till 4) to their wedding fair, we will be showing our creations, so save the date and we will see you there!
