Wishing Everyone A Merry Christmas

Hello it's been a while since I have blogged, but it's been a busy December.
Since my last post Hebden Bridge won the small market town award for the best British high street. What a lovely way to end the year ! What a great way to end the year.
It's been a roller coaster of a year but here we are almost Christmas eve.
Lots of customers old and new have been and bought their gifts for loved ones so thank you for all the support thought out the year.
It seems as though a storm is on it's way but it will be short lived, hence my lovely vintage image from Vogue with the umbrellas.
I hope you all have lovely festive Christmas and Happy new year. The shop will be closed from Christmas day and will re open on Wed 4th Jan.

Also please note I have a new shop land line number 01422 618322 not a scheduled change !
Looking forward to new ideas and fabric magic next year.

Getting Ready For Christmas

Hello we have been busy getting ready for Christmas shoppers as it's only 6 weeks away !
Lots of people are popping in to see what we have in the shop. Of course hand made items don't suit everyone but most people have a least a few lovers of original gifts and every year I try to fill the shop with different ideas.
I will also be going along to the lovely Hepwoth Christmas Market on Sat 26th / Sun 27th
It's always good with a wonderful selection of artists selling a wide range of goods. Well worth a trip if you are in the Wakefield area.
There's a cafe and seating area for those who prefer to people watch and last year I had customers who had travelled up from London.
Then there's my own Christmas Shopping Saturday which will be Sat 3rd Dec 10am till 5pm so come along and share a glass of something and a few ginger breads to start December off in style.
There is something for everyone in Hebden and if you've never been this year would be a great time to visit.
Chrissie.

Love From Leafy Hebden Bridge

Hebden Bridge is positively gorgeous at the moment with all the leaves changing their colours daily.
Whilst the sun has been out it has been a picture post card.
The temperature is definitely changing so its out with warmer hats, scarves and gloves.
We have been looking at new fabrics to buy and deciding what we need to make in the coming weeks before Christmas, making winter berets and bags last week, plus it seems timely to bring out a few seasonal items.
Our cheeky 'dapper' stockings are perfect for a little half bottle of something to sip on a cold night !
So what ever you are up to don't forget to wrap up warm.
It wont be long [end of the month] and I will have been open for 11 years and once again it will be time to dress the shop in festive trimmings which I happen to love.

October Not Quite As I Planned

Hello folks well just I was starting to feel better a virus had other ideas for me, namely the virus labyrithitis and I'm sure those of you who have had it will be thinking 'oh no'
There's been no blogging, no sewing, and not much to laugh about as it literally felled me !
However I am now up and about (not ready to set the workroom on fire) but enough to start a plan of action again.
Here's a little selction of things that have been made or inspired over the last 3 weeks.
I can tell you that fabulous felt hat making will be starting on Tues as well as some new bag shapes and selection of smaller seasonal gift ideas.
Here's to a better November.  Chrissie x

Wools Tweeds And Warmer Tones

The last day of September, this year has flown hasn't it?
These last few months I've found pretty tough as I have been plagued by my old friend eczema.
I haven't suffered with the bothersome skin condition for 16 years but I think due to many emotional issues it reared it's head and I have struggled with it for the last 8 months.
You may know that I'm a homoeopath hence the name Hat Therapy [half and half of my trades]
I have treated many people for skin problems but I'm afraid this week I had to give in and get the big guns out namely steriod and anti fungal ointments as I couldn't stand it any longer,
Also I was quite a sight and running the risk of scaring customers away.
So this explains the lack of regular blog posts since the beginning of the year as I have only managed the bare minimum of tasks each day.
However things have improved dramatically and I am feeling much better,
The shop is full to the brim of  my favourite seasons accessories Autumn and Winter.
There's no better season to adorn yourself in warmer hats, scarves and gloves.
Here's a few pictures to show you our season treats.
The shop front has now been given it's new lick of paint, what do you think ?

Back To Work

Back to work after a lovely break with lots to make and do.
As you know I do love the autumn and winter fabrics and tweed is IN again this year so that has made me very happy.
The front of the shop has been painted and is looking lovely in the September sunshine today, this time it's a complete change with a paler colour pallet of pale grey and blue grey door.
Just before I went away I had a client that required a wedding headpiece rather quickly,so she arrived at 10am and left at 6pm with her hat box ! It's the whipped ivory piece in the photos and I am looking forward to the photographs as I never actually got to see her dress as it wasn't ready at the time.
Most years I have a hat sale in September and this year I have nine hats in the sale. There are various styles and colours including black, ivory, pink and grey.
Priced at £60 they won't last very long so get in touch if you are interested.
Must dash .. back on the school run!
