After finding this pretty piece of net/lace fabric I have made a clutch bag by backing it with interfaced linen. This gives it a firm platform to sit on and makes it possible to use as a bag.It is only small but you would get lipstick, keys and a little money with room to spare.
The cocktail hat is given form by using brim reed which is a light plastic wire and allows you to manipulate lighter fabrics into firm structures.
I also made a made corsage by pleating the net and cutting away small areas around the edge, before securing the center with beading in the same way as the hat.
This has a pretty feminine look and could be used for weddings or the races.
It's just a shame it didn't come in any other colours.! I'll keep looking you never know what you might find when fabric hunting.
